Ondanks Amerika se onderneming dat Bin Laden in hegtenis geneem sal word, sê die Amerikaanse minister van Verdediging dat hulle nie weet waar die al-Qaeda leier is nie en dat daar jare reeds geen inligting oor sy doen en late is nie.

Ek het bietjie gaan rondsnuffel op die FBI se website (hoop nie ek kom in die kak nie….hulle weet mos kamstig alles), maar daar is ‘n cool R150 Miljoen beloning op sy kop!!   Kan jy dink hoe kruip daai koelie weg met so ‘n prys op sy kop!!!

“I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart,” Woods said, appealing for privacy after tabloid reports fuelled media frenzy over his alleged links to women other than his wife Elin.

“I have not been true to my values and the behaviour my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behaviour and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone.”

The statement broke Woods’s silence maintained since Friday when he had a mysterious car crash outside his Florida home.  His refusal to talk even to police about the circumstances of the crash fuelled media speculation that he was escaping from Elin after she became enraged at reports he was secretly seeing a New York nightclub hostess, Rachel Uchitel.

Uchitel told newspapers on Tuesday she was not even friends with Woods and never had a sexual affair with him.

But today, the celebrity gossip magazine Us Weekly posted an audio recording online of what it said was Woods begging a different woman to change her telephone voicemail in order to hide their affair from his wife.

Us Weekly said that Los Angeles cocktail waitress Jaimee Grubbs, 24, had an extramarital affair with Woods lasting 31 months, in which they met 20 times for sex and exchanged steamy text messages.  The magazine published what it claimed to be a recording of the embattled golf superstar urging Grubbs to change her voicemail greeting because his wife was close to uncovering their affair.

In the recording – which could not be verified – a man is heard saying: “Hey, it’s, uh, it’s Tiger. I need you to do a huge favour. Can you please take your name off your phone? My wife went through my phone and may be calling you.”

At the end of the brief message, the nervous-sounding man says: “Do this for me … quickly.”

The public apology for his “sins” appeared to be an attempt by Woods, one of the all-time great golfers, to end a publicity nightmare that has already damaged his ultra-lucrative, squeaky-clean image.

It comes as a third woman is now reportedly claiming she “hooked up” with Woods.  American publication Life & Style is claiming a woman called Kalika Moquin, a marketing manager for The Bank nightclub in Las Vegas, had an affair with Woods.

A source told the magazine: “They’ve hooked up a bunch of times. Tiger told Kalika that married life isn’t all it’s built up to be. He said he wasn’t happy in his marriage or his home life and that there was just so much pressure on him.”

I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone.

Although I am a well-known person and have made my career as a professional athlete, I have been dismayed to realize the full extent of what tabloid scrutiny really means.

For the last week, my family and I have been hounded to expose intimate details of our personal lives.

The stories in particular that physical violence played any role in the car accident were utterly false and malicious.

Elin has always done more to support our family and shown more grace than anyone could possibly expect.
But no matter how intense curiosity about public figures can be, there is an important and deep principle at stake which is the right to some simple, human measure of privacy.

I realize there are some who don’t share my view on that.  But for me, the virtue of privacy is one that must be protected in matters that are intimate and within one’s own family.

Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn’t have to mean public confessions.  Whatever regrets I have about letting my family down have been shared with and felt by us alone.

I have given this a lot of reflection and thought and I believe that there is a point at which I must stick to that principle even though it’s difficult.  I will strive to be a better person and the husband and father that my family deserves.

For all of those who have supported me over the years, I offer my profound apology.

“Dit is ‘n eer om ‘n persoon van hierdie internasionale formaat, met ferm wortels in Stellenbosch, as kanselier te hê,” het die universiteit in ‘n verklaring gesê.

Rupert vervang Fredeerick Van Zyl Slabbert wat in September afgetree het om meer tyd met sy gesin deur te bring.

Rupert is ‘n sakeman wat sy eerste graad aan die Universiteit Stellenbosch behaal het. Sun City Golf challenge threat

More than a thousand Sun City workers affiliated to Cosatu in the North West have vowed to disrupt the Nedbank Challenge golf tournament to be held at the holiday resort from Thursday, SABC radio reported.

This emerged during a meeting the workers held with Sun International management late on Tuesday afternoon, the broadcaster said.  The workers are demanding the immediate termination of contracts of two security companies, accusing them of racism, and the dismissal of a manager.

They intend to disrupt the Nedbank Challenge by blockading the main entrance to the resort and stop any use of scab labour.  Sun International intends to apply for a court interdict to prevent the workers from going ahead with their industrial action.

Woods on Sunday postponed for [...]]]> The world’s most famous golfer Tiger Woods on Sunday dismissed “malicious” rumours following his one-car accident and asked for privacy for his family.  “This situation is my fault, and it’s obviously embarrassing to my family and me,” Woods said in a statement released on his website. “I’m human, and I’m not perfect.”

Woods on Sunday postponed for a third time a request by Florida police for a voluntary interview about the one-car accident, according to the Orlando Sentinel newspaper.  A rising chorus of questions surrounded Woods’ two days of near silence about the 02:00 on Friday accident at the end of his driveway in the exclusive residential area of Isleworth near Orlando, Florida.

His Cadillac SUV Escalade hit a fire hydrant and a tree. Woods, 33, who was alone in the car, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where he was treated and released for cuts and bruising.  Local officials told the Sentinel that his wife Elin had smashed in the back window of the SUV with a golf club in order to get him out of the car and onto the ground, where he apparently was unconscious for a short time.

The incident and ensuing silence have provoked questions about where he was going at that time of night and why his wife moved him against widely known directives from rescue professionals to leave accident victims in place until they get there.  His silence has revived scandal sheet gossip about an alleged affair.

“Although I understand there is curiosity, the many false, unfounded and malicious rumours that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible,” he wrote in his statement.

Woods, one of the world’s top-earning athletes who revolutionised the sports-marketing industry, is normally circumspect about his private life and has so far avoided the gossip pages despite 13 years in the world limelight.

He said in his statement that Elin had “acted courageously” and that the incident had been “stressful and very difficult for Elin, our family and me.”

“This is a private matter, and I want to keep it that way,” he wrote. “I would … ask for some understanding that my family and I deserve some privacy no matter how intrusive some people can be.”

Suid-Afrika is einde verlede jaar [...]]]> Resessie ‘is net tegnies verby – so hou die gordel intrek’

Mense moet steeds die gordel intrek, veral oor die Kerstyd, het kenners gister gemaan.

Die nuwe ekonomiese groei is ’n “stadige opswaai”, het mnr. Dawie Roodt, hoofekonoom van die Efficient Groep, gesê. “Mense moenie dink platskerm-TV’s gaan môre uit die lug val nie.”

Suid-Afrika is einde verlede jaar die eerste keer in 17 jaar in ’n resessie gedompel.

Suid-Afrika se resessie het drie kwartale geduur, maar dit het gister bekend geword dat die ekonomie in die derde kwartaal vanjaar met 0,9% gegroei het.

“Ons moet baie bly wees,” het dr. Elna Moolman, senior ekonoom by die makelaarsfirma Barnard Jacobs Mellet, gesê. “Begin vanjaar was daar baie onsekerheid. Mense het selfs gepraat van ’n depressie.”

Dis egter geen rede vir die gemiddelde Suid-Afrikaner om die vreugdevure aan te steek nie.

“As jy kyk na werkskepping,” het Roodt gesê, “is ons op ’n manier nog in ’n resessie, want ons hou aan om poste te verloor.”  Volgens hom gaan werkverliese waarskynlik tot die eerste kwartaal van 2010 voortduur. Sedert einde verlede jaar is Suid-Afrika byna ’n miljoen werksgeleenthede kwyt.

Dié patroon sal eers middel volgende jaar omgekeer word, meen Moolman. “Dit gaan egter wesenlik langer neem om daardie werksgeleenthede terug te kry.”  Mense gaan ook nog baie lank afbetaal aan die berge skuld wat oor jare aangegaan is, het dr. Nico Swart van die departement persoonlike en finansiële bestuur aan Unisa gesê.

Sowat miljoen mense per jaar raak steeds bankrot en nog baie meer beland in groot finansiële moeilikheid, het Swart gewaarsku. “Dis nog steeds taai tye en dit gaan taaier word. Water en elektrisiteit gaan in die volgende vyf jaar met 600% styg van waar dit begin vanjaar was.”

Rentekoerse gaan volgens vooruitskattings ook in die tweede helfte van volgende jaar weer klim.

Die gemiddelde Suid-Afrikaner gaan dus nog lank die geldknyp voel. “Eers drie tot vyf jaar van nou af sal die ding vir óns begin draai,” meen Swart.  Moet ook nie staatmaak op skerp groei in jou eiendomsprys oor die volgende paar jaar nie, het mnr. Erwin Rode, eiendomskenner van Kaapstad, bygevoeg. “Huispryse gaan styg teen ’n koers wat laer is as inflasie.”  Die feit dat die resessie op ’n end is, is ’n tegniese punt.

“Dit beteken net daar is lig aan die einde van die tonnel.”

Survivor sneuwel weer weens SABC3-glips

TV-kykers wat gereed sit om weer van Maandagaand Survivor te kyk, kan ’n skok te wagte wees: SABC3 gaan nié die volgende seisoen van die gewilde Amerikaanse realiteitsreeks uitsaai nie.

Die kanaal, wat die realiteitsprogramme The Amazing Race en Survivor om die beurt uitsaai, het nog nie die kontrak vir die nuwe seisoen, Survivor: Micronesia, met die internasionale verspreider onderteken nie.

Dit volg nadat SABC3 die finale uitsending van Survivor: China in September vir kykers bederf het en R60 000 se advertensiegeld moes terugbetaal.

SABC3 maak nou gereed om derderangse realiteitsreekse in die Survivor-kykgleuf uit te saai en begin Maandagaand met Momma’s Boys, gevolg deur Make Me a Supermodel.

Dit beteken dat Survivor eers middel April op die kassie sal wees.

’n SABC3-ingeligte het gesê SABC3 sal die begindatum dadelik naderskuif sodra ’n nuwe kontrak onderteken word.

SABC3 se amptelike antwoord was gister dat die uitsaaier “nie ’n nuwe Survivor aan die einde van die jaar wil begin en gedurende Desember op die lug wil hê nie’’.

Dit is baie goeie nuus vir M-Net se Suid-Afrikaanse weergawe, wat in die verlede weens toevallige skeduleringsplanne deur die twee uitsaaiers in dieselfde tydgleuf as die Amerikaanse weergawe op die lug was en moes meeding om kykersaandag.

M-Net se Survivor SA begin op 20 Januarie om 20:00 en word tans op Paradys-eiland aan die Mosambiekse kus by Inhassoro verfilm met sterre soos Cindy Nell en Christina Storm.

Oprah Winfrey show is retiring

The Oprah Winfrey show is retiring after 25 years on the air. Yesterday, TV’s phattest talk queen announced that the last episode of her die-hard show will air on September 9, 2011.

So, I guess we’ll be seeing her way into 2012 then? And then SABC or etv will re-run the entire show’s history from day 1, just like they did with Baywatch and Friends. That could be fun: on fast forward you could see Oprah’s yo-yo dieting in action!

However, this doesn’t mean Oprah’s ready to sit at home spending her days grooming her dogs. It’s rumoured that a new Oprah show will air on The Oprah Winfrey Network (next she’ll have her own satellite!). Whatever she does, it’ll be huge, just like her.

What will you do without Oprah to tell you how to dress, lose weight (haha) and raise your kids?!

Octomom saying that she’s “open” to having BABIES!! again someday.

In an interview with GMA, OctoCrazy was asked about putting her uterus through more torture and she responded with: “If I wanted to do it the traditional way and get married. That’s like another chapter.” If OctoCrazy ever gets to that bridge, she needs to jump off of it instead of crossing it.
